Brazil's Dunga favorite to coach Beijing Guoan

Xinhua, November 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazil World Cup winner Dunga is close to joining Beijing Guoan as the Chinese club's head coach, according to Brazilian media reports.

Dunga's representatives ,Rafael Scheidt and Ricardo Mello, are currently in China in an attempt to hammer out a two-year deal, the Uol news portal reported on Friday.

Beijing Guoan have been without a permanent coach since parting ways with Italian Alberto Zaccheroni in May. Former China national team player Xie Feng assumed the role on an interim basis after Zaccheroni's departure and led the team to fifth place at the end of the Chinese Super League season last month.

Dunga has had two spells as coach of Brazil, the most recent of which ended in June after the team's group-stage elimination from the Copa America.

As a player, he was capped 91 times for Brazil and captained the Selecao to victory at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

Beijing Guoan's current squad includes Brazil international midfielders Renato Augusto and Ralf. Endit
