Thousands of people fled South Sudan every day in October due to violence, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said on Friday.

Renewed fighting erupted in early July between government troops led by President Salva Kiir and forces loyal to sacked First Vice President Riek Machar, Kiir's long-time rival. ATHENS -- Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras reshuffled his cabinet on Friday in an effort to pull the debt-laden country from painful austerity and recession to growth.

WASHINGTON -- The United States on Friday finalized action to further restrict Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s access to the U.S. financial system.

The move follows Treasury's designation of the DPRK as a "primary money laundering concern" in June and provides greater protection for the U.S. financial system from DPRK's "illicit activity," according to the statement. (U.S.-DPRK)

SANTIAGO -- A 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook central and south Chile early Friday afternoon, causing some jitters but no major damage.

The part of the country most affected by the seismic waves, which were 87 km below the earth's surface, stretched from the central Pacific port city of Coquimbo to the southern Araucania region. Quake-prone Chile last suffered a major temblor in September of last year, when an 8.3-magnitude earthquake killed 15 people, and sparked a tsunami. (Chile-Earthquake)

AMMAN -- The number of American trainers killed in an exchange of fire in Jordan rose to three, the state-run PETRA news agency reported.

ANKARA -- One person was killed and 30 others wounded early on Friday in an explosion outside a police facility in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province, Dogan News Agency reported.
