The following are highlights of South African major news outlets on Friday:

-- Congress of South African Trade Unions President Sdumo Dlamini has warned the ANC to stop abusing the labor federation's loyalty or risk the failure of both institutions.

"We need to take each other seriously. If we don't, we create a situation where we all shall fall, and I don't think any of us want that," he said Thursday. (News24)

-- The beleaguered national director of public prosecutions, Advocate Shaun Abrahams, will be asked to to explain to members of Parliament his handling of the case against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and two senior officials of the South African Revenue Service. (City Press)

-- Worried about the state of the country, ANC stalwarts are calling for a consultative conference ahead of the 2017 Elective Conference.
