Spain's car sales rose by 4 percent in October when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to data released on Wednesday by organizations of the automobile sector.
The Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC), the Federation of Association of Dealers of the Automotive sector (FACONAUTO) and the Association of Car Dealers (GANVAM) reported that purchases reached 83,248 in the 10th month of the year.
This was the best figure for the month since 2009, the organizations said, although highlighting that the end of the financial aid to the sector, the so-called plan PIVE, had caused a slowdown in the number of purchases made by individuals.
Purchases made by individuals fell by 2.3 percent in October year-on-year, while those made by companies rose by 10.9 percent and those made by the renting sector rose by 36.7 percent.
The sector also reported that car sales rose by 10.8 percent in the first 10 months of the year when compared with the same period of a year earlier to a total of 957,468.
Purchases made by individuals rose by 7.7 percent, those made by companies rose by 14 percent and those made by the renting sector rose by 15 percent.
The sector highlighted the need to renew the Spanish fleet, which is one of the oldest in Europe, and predicted a good performance of consumption taking into account the political context, as Spain's prime minister was recently invested after nine months without government. Endit
