Tokyo shares close lower by break amid uncertainty over U.S. election

Tokyo shares ended the morning session lower on Wednesday as increasing uncertainty over the U.S. presidential election weighed on market sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average went down 241.79 points, or 1.39 percent, from Tuesday to 17,200.61.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 22.16 points, or 1.59 percent, to 1,371.03.

Decliners were led by nonferrous metal, marine transportation and insurance issues. Endit
