Zambian president appoints more ministers amid corruption warning

Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Monday appointed five more ministers, bringing the total number of ministers appointed since he won the August elections to 30.
The country's constitution only allows a president to appoint 30 ministers while the position of deputy minister has been abolished.
Lungu also took the time to expressed grave concern over reports of corruption in the country and warned the newly-appointed ministers not to fall prey to it.
Among those appointed is Mathew Nkhuwa who was named the Minister of Works and Supply to replace Ronald Chitotela, who has been moved to the newly-created Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development.
Others are Freedom Sikazwe as Presidential Affairs Minister, Sylvia Chalikosa as Minister in the Office of the Vice-President, Lloyd Kaziya as Minister of Water Development and Sanitation and Environmental Protection, and Godfridah Sumaili as Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs.
Lungu said that he had received reports of corruption involving his ministers, adding that he would not hesitate to relieve any ministers of their duties if they were found guilty. Endit
