Spain's Rajoy to name cabinet on Thursday

Xinhua, October 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy will name his new cabinet on Thursday and his new ministers will be sworn in on Friday.

Rajoy confirmed the news after winning the investiture vote held in Congress on Saturday night which he won by 170 votes in favor, 11 against and with the abstention of 68 deputies of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE).

He explained that King Felipe VI, who has been attending the Ibero-American Summit in Colombia, was aware of the news.

King Felipe will return to Spain on Sunday and Rajoy is expected to be sworn in for his second mandate as prime minister at the Palacio de la Zarzuela on Monday, after the Spanish State Bulletin (BOE) publishes the decree confirming his investiture.

The prime minister said he would not "waste one minute" in designing his new cabinet as there was "a lot of work to be done," after 10 months without a government. Endit
