14th Int' l crafts Fair (SIAO) kicks off in Burkina Faso

The 14th edition of Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) kicked off on Friday in the capital Ouagadougou.

The head of State Roch Marc Christian Kabore has presided over the opening ceremony of this fair taking place under the theme "African crafts, female entrepreneurship and social protection" .

Exhibitors from at least 25 countries are expected at the SIAO which is anticipated to record 300,000 general public visitors, 250 buyers and professional visitors.

"This 14th edition is in line with the willingness of the head of State to innovate and to make social issues a priority" , Salifou Diallo, National Assembly chairperson and sponsor of the Fair said.

"It includes the economic situation of craftswomen so as to make it a hobbyhorse to convert SIAO into a cultural and job creating structure for our youth" , he explained.

The government of Burkina Faso has stepped up security on the site of the Fair, as the country has been experiencing a series of jihadist attacks over the last few years. Enditem
