Germany to invest 85 million euros on power interconnection line between Albania,Macedonia

Albania and Germany signed Friday here an agreement on the construction of interconnection line between Albania and Macedonia.

According to Albanian prime minister's press office, Germany is going to provide 85 million euros in the next two years for the realization of this project deemed as very important to both countries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Germany is the main contributor to this agreement as well as many other projects in the field of energy.

The head of Albanian government stressed that Albania remains committed to its way towards European integration.

German official Hans-Joachim Fuchtel reiterated the German government's determination and willingness to continue its assistance to Albania in several fields.

The construction of 126 km high voltage line will start from Elbasan in Albania to Bitola in Macedonia.

Work in the field is expected to start at the beginning of 2017 and finish in 2018. Apart from Germany, Albanian energy entities as well as EU will provide funds to realize the project. (1 euro = 1.09 U.S. dollars) Endit
