German economy predicted to grow by 0.4 pct in Q4: research institute

German gross domestic product is predicted to grow by 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) reported on Thursday.

"Economic growth in Germany is currently accelerating slightly," the Berlin-based institute noted, adding that the German industrial production has started the fourth quarter with a small plus.

In the third quarter, German economy increased by 0.3 percent.

Ferdinand Fichtner, analyst with DIW Berlin, said that the German economy held the course despite uncertainty factors such as the unknown consequences of the Brexit vote and the uncertain outcome of the U.S. presidential election.
