Leaders of Poland, Senegal seek to increase bilateral investments

Xinhua, October 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

"Senegal should be regarded as the key to West Africa. It is a stable and democratic country," said Thursday Polish president Andrzej Duda during the inauguration ceremony of The Polish-Senegal Economic Forum in Warsaw attended also by his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall.

He further said it is one of the most important economic partners in the region not only because it features prominently in the so-called Go Africa project but also because it has considerable importance for the whole national economy as a whole.

Duda reminded that Polish entrepreneurs are currently undertaking a series of investments there including Grupa Azoty SA that recently been granted access to the deposits of phosphate rock and ilmenite sands.

Sall stressed that his country has close economic ties both with the European Union and the United States.

He stated that he will do his best to create more friendly legal environment to attract more foreign businessman.

"Recently we have opened and independent Economic Bureau that will provide necessary help for companies interested in entering our market," said Sall.

He also applauded the Go Africa project as an important element that allowed Polish companies to invest in Senegalese infrastructure, energy, agriculture and education.

He also encouraged further involvement in real estate, tourism industry and telecommunications.

Sall began his official visit to Poland earlier on Thursday. A range of memoranda were signed in the presence of the two heads of state. The documents were related to planned political consultations as well as cooperation in finance, agriculture, sports, tourism and investments. Endit
