Finland's 81-year-old sentenced to four years in jail for sexually assaulting two underage girls

Xinhua, October 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

An 81-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday for raping and sexually abusing two underage girls, reported Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat.

The criminal offenses took place in the autumn of 2015, when the man was 80 years old and the girls were 11 years old.

The man lived alone in a terraced house apartment in Espoo, southern Finland. He and the family of one of the girls knew each other before, said the daily.

The girl's mother agreed with the old man that her daughter would do some housework after school, such as cooking and painting fences, for him.

The 11-year-old girl went to the man's home together with another girl, who was at the same age, without informing her mother.

During the first half of October last year, the offender sexually assaulted one of the victims for four days and the other for two days respectively.

The defendant was alleged of four child sexual abuses, two rapes and two aggravated child sexual abuses.

In addition to four years imprisonment, the Espoo District Court also demanded him to pay 28,500 euros (about 31,065 U.S. dollars) compensation to the victims. Endit
