Ethiopia's parliament is expected to convene between now and next week, and endorse Ethiopian Prime Minister's proposal for reshuffling of government, has noted Getachew Reda, Ethiopian Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office.

Getachew made the remarks during a press conference on Wednesday while briefing journalists about the current issues with Ethiopia.

"With regard to the reshuffle, it's still going to happen; and I cannot give you exact date; it is expected that anytime between now and next week, the parliament will convene and endorse the prime minister's proposal for the reshuffling of the government," said Getachew.

"We are talking about reshuffle of the cabinet; it is not about targeting this ministry or that ministry; so, whatever is deemed necessary to address the political economy, whatever challenges we are facing will be subject of review," Getachew added.

Ethiopia has declared a six-month state of emergency effective as of Oct. 8, which it says will reverse the danger posed by forces working in collaboration with foreign enemies to undermine the safety of the people and security and stability of the country.

As to the situation, the Minister said implementation of the state of emergency the East African country declared has helped normalize situation in the country.

Stating that the state of emergency is a short term solution to address law enforcement issues, the Minister said the government would continue to have dialogue with stakeholders and consultations with the public to achieve sustainable solutions. Endit
