Moderate earthquake strikes Myanmar

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Myanmar on Wednesday, according to the Mandalay seismological observatory.

With its epicenter about 8 km east of Minkin and 184 km northwest of Mandalay, the quake struck at 8:51 a.m. local time (0221 GMT).

The quake was felt in Monywa and Minkin townships in Sagaing region.

No immediate report on casualties or damage are available. Endit
