The following are news highlights of leading Nigerian media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Poised to engender good governance in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has said he would surely solve the country's perennial electricity problem, fix the Niger Delta security problem and also improve the infrastructural status before leaving office.

He also said that public office holders in Nigeria must be made to be accountable, restating the determination of his administration to restore the country to the "good old days of accountability". (Vanguard)

-- President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the National Assembly to approve his administration's external borrowing plan of 29.96 billion U.S. dollars for the execution of key programs and infrastructural projects across the country.

The sum, if approved, will be spent on projects in this year's budget and up till 2018. (The Punch)

-- The Mambilla Hydro Power Project will be ready in the next 63 months, the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing Mustapha Baba Shehuri has said.

Speaking on Tuesday at the launching of the China Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC) North-west Africa regional headquarters, in Abuja, the minister recognized the effort of the company in the construction of the hydropower project which will add 3,050 megawatts to the National grid. -- To sustain the campaign against corruption in the judiciary, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said Tuesday it would continue to monitor all the judges and other judicial officers.

The Chairman of EFCC Ibrahim Magu said that despite the controversies that trailed the arrest of some judges over alleged graft, the commission would not be deterred from prosecuting corrupt judicial officers. (The Guardian) Endit
