Pakistani army's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that about five or six terrorists entered from the backyard of the Balochistan Police College at the Saryab Road area of Quetta, capital of Pakistan's southwest province of Balochistan.

According to the ISPR, personnel of Pakistani army and Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force, have reached the site and cordoned off the training center.

Interior Minister of the province, Sarfaraz Bughti, said that at least four injured police trainees had been shifted to the Civil Hospital of the city.

According to local media reports, exchange of intense firing has been heard from the center since the contingents of army and Frontier Corps entered the training center.

The interior minister confirmed that the operation against the terrorists have been launched, who have held 200-250 police personnel hostage in a hostel of the training center.

A state of emergency has been declared in all hospitals in Quetta, the minister said.
