Singapore president to visit Thailand to pay respects to late King

Singapore's President Tony Tan Keng Yam will visit Bangkok on Monday to pay his respects to late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement released on Sunday.

The ministry said Tan will be accompanied by his wife Mary Tan and officials from MFA during his visit. During his absence, J Y Pillay, chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, will exercise the functions of the office of the President.

King Bhumibol passed away at the age of 88 on Oct. 13. Endit
