Brazilian rider Andriato wins 2016 Tour of Hainan opening stage

Brazilian Rafael Andriato from Wilier Triestina-Southeast timed 1:55:00 to win the opening stage of 2016 Tour of Hainan on Saturday, and he also became the first rider puuting on the yellow jersey in this annual cycling event.
Andriato, who did not expect to win the race at the beginning, used his downwind speed to pass Max Walscheid of Team Giant-Alpecin to storm across the finish line.
As the first rider passing the KOM CAT.4 in the race, Zhao Jingbiao from Wisdom-Hengxiang cycling team was award the polka-dot jersey as the best climber in the first stage.
"My knees were getting very tired when I passed the finishing line. The victory today must go to my teammates, their support is the key to the championship," Andriato told press after the race.
The first stage is a circuit race in Waning, which is located in southeast Hainan covering 88.3 kilometers.
This year's Tour of Hainan will last 9 days, and the next stage shall take place from Wanning to Haikou, the capital city of Hainan, covering a total distance of 230.2 kilometers. Enditem
