Local badminton competition kicks off in S China

A folk badminton competition, which kicked off Saturday in south China's Hainan province, has attracted record number of participants.

Nearly 800 participants from 40 universities across China attended the Hainan alumni association of Chinese universities badminton competition which kicked off in Haikou, capital of Hainan Province.

The players will compete in men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events.

According to the organizers, the competition is aimed at promoting sports exchange among alumni of universities and development of folk sports in Hainan. Enditem
