Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am tees off in South China

The Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am 2016 golf event kicks off Friday at Misson Hills, Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan procince.

The star-studded golf event, which last through Sunday, invites 9 world top professional golfers and 27 famous stars from the world of sport and entertainment.

The guest list includes golfing greats Gary Player, John Daly, Mark O' Meara and Rich Beem - winners of 14 Major Championships, and Oscar winner Michael Douglas and Wimbledon champion Boris Becker, as well as basketball Hall of Famers Allen Iverson and Yao Ming.

One pro and three celebrity partners consist of a team. The event is divided into two parts including Pro-Am match and individual match.

The biennial Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am was established in 2010 as Asia's first and only pro-celebrity golf tournament.

The Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am has become one of the three world Pro-Am tournaments besides Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and Dunhill Championship. Endit
