Portugal's health ministry revealed Wednesday that 34 health centres will be built across the country next year, with the government investing over 34 million euros.
Minister of Health Adalberto Campos Fernandos said during a parliamentary commission for health that 34 protocols were signed with local councils to embark on the "biggest wave of construction of health centres in 2017," the Portuguese Lusa News Agency reported.
He pointed out that the majority of the health centres would be built from scratch and that over half of them would be in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
Campos Fernandos said that some of the work had already begun this year and that most of the buildings would take between 12 and 14 months to be completed.
Each health building will cost around 1 million euros, he said. Endit
