Peng Liyuan, Chinese President Xi Jinping's wife, held an audience with a group of German high school students and teachers Wednesday afternoon at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing.

Peng recalled her visit to Burg Grammar School in the German city of Essen, when she accompanied Xi to the country in March, 2014.

She encouraged the German students to learn Chinese and soak up its rich culture, so that they, one day, may become envoys of China-Germany friendship.

This is the year of China-Germany youth exchange. Peng hoped the initiative will encourage more young people to pursue exchange opportunities and learn from each other.

The students said they were very interested in China and Chinese culture, and vowed to contribute to stronger Germany-China friendship. Endi
