A Kenyan night guard was killed during a shootout between the police and Al-Shabaab militants in Mandera Country near the Somali border on Monday night.

Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia said on Tuesday that the police officers who were driving through the town were stopped by the gunmen who were disguised as women in veils. (Kenya-Al-Shabaab)

JAKARTA -- A mine incident at a complex of a U.S. company in eastern Indonesia has left one worker dead with another suffering from injury, a senior official at the company's worker union disclosed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Grasberg mining complex of Indonesian subsidiary of U.S. based Freeport McMoran Inc., in Papua province, July Pararogan, senior official at the union told Xinhua by phone. (Indonesia-Mine Accident)

ANKARA -- Turkey joined airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition during the operation to retake Mosul from the Islamic State (IS), Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary group meeting in Ankara, Yildirim said "Our Air Forces have also participated in airstrikes in Mosul." (Turkey-Mosul-Airstrikes)

BRUSSELS -- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday welcomed Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari at the NATO Headquarters, committing the Alliance's support to Iraq.
