Kremlin confirms Putin's participation in meeting over Ukraine

Xinhua, October 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in a meeting with leaders of France, Germany and Ukraine in the so-called Normandy format in Berlin on Wednesday, the Kremlin confirmed Tuesday.

"The president will travel to Berlin tomorrow, where he will take part not in a one-day, but an evening working visit, and he will hold talks with (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel, (French President Francois) Hollande, and (Ukrainian President Petro) Poroshenko," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The Kremlin has earlier repeatedly declined to confirm Putin's participation in the meeting on the crisis in Ukraine. Last week, the Russian leader canceled a visit to France also scheduled for Wednesday. Endi
