Xinhua, October 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks edged higher Tuesday morning as concerns eased about a slump in oil prices and the yen's comparative softness against the U.S. dollar supported a relatively upbeat mood.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 23.88 points, or 0.14 percent, from Monday to 16,924.00.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 0.08 point, or 0.01 percent, to 1,352.64.

Notable gainers by the morning break comprised real estate, fishery, agriculture and forestry, and pulp and paper-linked stocks. Enditem
