British European Space Agency astronaut Tim Peake on Monday interacted with Edinburgh audience together with his National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) crewmate Tim Kopra as part of a tour in several British cities.

Freshly back from a six-month-long mission on board the International Space Station, Peake and Kopra shared their experience and the scientific experiments in space in the tour which already took Peake to Cardiff, Leicester, Manchester and Glasgow before Edinburgh.

Kopra joined Peake for the visit to Edinburgh, and then will go to Belfast and London respectively on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko is unable to join the tour.

Organized by Edinburgh International Science Festival in partnership with European Space Agency and UK Space Agency, the event "Experiments in Space" attracted crowds of audience at the Usher Hall.

As the first British European Space Agency astronaut, Peake spent over six months living and working onboard the International Space Station, after launching from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Dec. 15, 2015.

Simon Gage, director of the Edinburgh International Science Festival, said the festival aims to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds with the wonders of science and technology. Endit
