1st LD: Egypt's military forces kill 15 terrorists after attack on security checkpoint

Xinhua, October 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Egyptian armed forces said in a statement on Friday that it killed 15 terrorists after suspected Jihadists' attack on a checkpoint in North Sinai killed 12 security men.

"A group of militants have attacked in the early morning one of the security checkpoints in North Sinai in the Jeep vans, opening fire on security men," the army spokesman Brigadier Mohamed Samir said.

Fifteen terrorists have been killed in the clashes, Samir said, adding the searching and combing operations are underway to track more Jihadists.

Egypt is battling wave of anti-security attacks since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, an Islamist leader, in 2013, in retaliation of the killing of hundreds and arrest of thousands of his supporters. Endit
