Vietnam's HCM City to build cheap houses for workers

Xinhua, October 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City plans to construct small houses at a price-tag of only 100 million Vietnamese dong (nearly 4,500 U.S. dollars) for workers, the municipal Construction Department said Friday.

The municipal authorities have asked the department and relevant agencies to follow an example of the neighboring province of Binh Duong, which has recently built social houses and sold them to workers at prices of around 100 million Vietnamese dong, compared with prices of around one billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 45,000 U.S. dollars) of a common commercial house or apartment.

Ho Chi Minh City will create favorable conditions for enterprises, organizations and individuals to participate in building such houses, which are located near schools, medical stations, supermarkets and traditional markets, said the department.

Binh Duong has recently constructed 5,000 social houses with a floor area of 30 square meters for sales to workers in the province. Buyers can pay by installments within three or five years. Endit
