An art exhibition organized by China was inaugurated in Rio on Thursday to celebrate the Olympic spirit.
Most of the 133 paintings were made by Chinese artists, but there are also works by artists from Brazil, Japan, the United States and Mexico.
According to Zhang Lingfeng, an organizer, the exhibition aims at interpreting the Olympic spirit and people's wishes for union, innovation and peace through art. Similar exhibitions were held in Beijing and in London after the Olympic Games in the two cities.
Zhang expressed the hope that Brazilians will see the exhibition and be more interested in Chinese art and art in general.
"Through diversity and multiculturalism, the works present Brazil and China integrated into Rio's beauty ... expressing love, peace and friendship between peoples, which was the greatest Olympic legacy, celebrated so successfully in this city," he said.
"I want people here to understand and feel Chinese artwork, art from all over the world with a different spirit." Endi
