Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Friday extended their condolences to Thailand over the death of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In the messages, the Vietnamese leaders expressed their hope that Thai Queen Sirikit, the royal family and people of Thailand will overcome the huge loss and continue to bring the country forward as the late king desired.

"As a neighbor and a strategic partner of Thailand, Vietnam treasures the king's contributions to enhancing cooperation between the two countries," they said.

On the same day, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also conveyed his sympathies to Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai.
