Indonesian president appoints former transport chief as energy minister

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday installed former transport minister Ignasius Jonan as new energy and mineral resources minister.
The appointment is made as the country mulls the possibility of delaying a ban on shipment of raw mining products overseas from 2017 to 2022.
President Widodo removed acting energy minister Luhut Pandjaitan and appointed Pandjaitan's predecessor, Archandra Tahar, as deputy energy minister.
Widodo sacked Tahar from his position as energy minister in mid-August after less than a month on his term, following reports of his dual citizenship, Indonesia and the United States.
Tahar is an oil and gas professional who lived in the United States for 20 years.
He replaced Sudirman Said as energy minister on July 27 in a broad cabinet reshuffle. Endit
