The 2nd World Culture Forum (WCF) concluded here Thursday issuing "Bali Declaration", pledging support and measures to address the United Nations (UN) sustainable development drive.
The document contains ten points of recommendations for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) state members and civil societies to work for the organization's 2030 Sustainable Development agenda.
"Results of the symposiums conducted in the 2nd WCF should be brought to the 39th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO in October 2017," Head of 2016 WCF Steering Committee Hananto Kusuma Seto said, while reading out some of the points in the document.
About 1,300 cultural experts from 63 countries discussed various issues aimed at improving the role of culture in the UNESCO development agenda, during the forum which started Monday.
It is highly expected WCF can serve as UNESCO official platform to accomplish with its sustainable development agenda, Seto said.
As part of the WCF, the International Youth Forum also issued a document pledging to actively involve young people in political activities to help with the UNESCO drive.
They also targeted to set up a global youth parliament within five years. Around 200 youths from 40 countries took part in the forum.
The first WCF in 2013 published Bali Promise, which was later officially registered in the United Nations General Assembly, resulting in culture being recognized as the fourth dimension of sustainable development. Endit
