Two pupils arrested in Zambia for drugging 5 teachers

Xinhua, October 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Authorities in Zambia on Thursday arrested two pupils for allegedly drugging five teachers.

The pupils from a named school in Ndola city in the Copperbelt Province baked a cake and laced with cannabis for their teachers during the commemoration of World Teachers' Day, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) said.

Theresa Katongo, spokesperson of the drug agency said after consuming the cake, the five teachers began laughing aloud and behaving strangely while two of them got very sick and were admitted at a local hospital.

The two pupils, who cannot be named because they are juveniles, have since been charged with drug trafficking and are currently in police custody. They will appear in court soon.

The drug agency has since warned school going children to desist from engaging in illicit activities as they risk ruining their lives. Endit
