The following are highlights of South African major news outlets on Sunday.
-- MPs let Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande off the hook on Wednesday after his request to answer their questions on the ongoing fees crisis in writing was granted.
Nzimande and his department appeared before a joint meeting of both the National Assembly and National Council of Province's higher education committees to address its 2015/16 performance.(News24).
-- National Prosecuting Authority head Shaun Abrahams said he is willing to review a decision to prosecute Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan on fraud charges if requested to do so.
"I am more than willing to review any matter if somebody applies to review that matter," Abrahams told lawmakers in Cape Town on Wednesday. (Fin24)
-- The legal team of convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius have launched a scathing attack on the State's application to appeal the six-year sentence imposed on the fallen Paralympian.
In opposing papers filed in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, Pistorius's attorney Andrew Fawcett has argued that it is an insult for the state to allege that the trial court misdirected itself by over-stating the personal circumstances of his client while under-emphasizing those of the deceased and the seriousness of crime.(South African Broadcasting Corporation).
