Andreichenko re-elected as Belarusian parliament's speaker

Belarusian MPs elected Vladimir Andreichenko as a speaker of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament on Tuesday.

The elections were uncontested - there were no other parliamentarians who wished to take the post of the speaker.

Andreichenko will hold the position of head of the lower house of parliament for the third time.

Speaking to the parliamentarians he voiced the plans of lower house of parliament for the next five years: socio-economic development, increasing exports, creating jobs in the factories as well as development of the language and national culture.

Andreichenko has been elected by secret ballot. One hundred and nine deputies voted for his candidacy, only one spoke against.

The parliamentary elections were held in Belarus on Sept. 11, 2016. Endit
