(Recast)Afghan forces kill 26 militants in Ghazni province

Afghan forces have killed more than two dozen Taliban militants and injured score others in the eastern Ghazni province over the past four days, spokesman for provincial government Jawed Salangi said.

"Since launching crackdown against militants in Gero district and adjoining areas on Saturday 26 Taliban rebels have been killed and 46 others injured," Salangi told Xinhua.

Without mentioning the possible casualties of government forces, the official asserted that the operations would last until the militants are wiped out from the area.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Ghazni province haven't commented. Enditem
