IRGC repels Kurdish militants' attack near border

Xinhua, October 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps fought off an attack by the Kurdish separatist Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK), official IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

The PJAK militants launched the attack in Golchidar region in Marivan Country of Iran's Kurdistan Province on late hours of Monday, the report said.

However, the counter-revolution group failed in doing any harm or disturbing the security of the country, the report said, adding that the militants fled as they encountered the timely reaction of the IRGC forces.

IRGC seized a number of arms from the militants as they turned to escape the scene. No casualties from the sides were reported by IRNA.

Recently, Iran's western border has been the hotbed of clashes between the Kurdish rebels and Iran's security forces.

The PJAK, an anti-Iranian Kurdish rebel group, is linked to Turkey's outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK). Endit
