Chinese official voices stronger links with Lithuania

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with his Lithuanian counterpart Alminas Maciulis in Beijing on Sunday, calling Lithuania an important partner of China in the Baltic Sea region and the European Union.

Yang said China hopes to enhance governmental and legislative exchanges with Lithuania at various levels.

He called on both sides to take the 25th anniversary of China-Lithuania diplomatic ties as a new starting point to push forward the Road and Belt Initiative, deepen trade cooperation, expand cultural exchanges, and strengthen the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries.

Maciulis said Lithuania is ready to expand cooperation with China in various fields, and actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative as well as China-CEE cooperation. Endi
