86 militants killed in S. Afghanistan's Helmand province

Up to 86 armed insurgents have been killed in clash with government forces in the besieged southern Helmand province over the past 48 hours, said a statement of provincial government released on Sunday.

According to the statement, 11 more militants have been injured and two others made captive.

Without giving information of possible casualties of security forces, the statement said clash has been continuing between security forces and militants in different parts of the embattled Helmand province.

Taliban militants who are in control of some districts and have been fighting to overrun Lashkar Gah the capital of the poppy growing Helmand province, are yet to make comment on the situation. Enditem
