Spain's industrial production rises by 6.9 pct in August

Spain's industrial production rose by 6.9 percent in August when compared with the same month in 2015, official data showed on Friday.
Production of consumer goods rose by 6.1 percent in August year-on-year, with production of durable consumer goods and non-durable consumer goods rising by 7.1 percent and 6.0 percent respectively, according to the Index of Industrial Production (IPI) published by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).
Production of capital goods rose by 16.7 percent and production of intermediate goods and energy rose by 5.9 percent and 3.2 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, on a month-to-month basis, Spain's industrial production rose by 1.4 percent, according to the INE.
Spain's industrial production had fallen in July by 5.2 percent on a year-on-year after having risen for three consecutive months. It rose by 8.8 percent in April, by 3.9 percent in May and by 0.9 percent in June, and returned to growth in August. Endit
