Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has won the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize for his resolute efforts to bring his country's five-decade-long civil war to an end, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced Friday.
"The award should also be seen as a tribute to the Colombian people, who ... have not given up hope of just peace, and to all the parties who have contributed to the peace process," Kaci Kullmann Five, chairperson of the five-member committee, said in her announcement. (Norway-Nobel Peace Prize)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian officials said Friday that the debris recovered in Mauritius came from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
After examining the composite debris, experts from Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) concluded that the debris originated from the missing Boeing 777 aircraft, said Liow Tiong Lai, Malaysia's transport minister. (Malaysia-MH370)

ISLAMABAD -- At least eight people were killed and 19 others injured when two bombs hit a passenger train in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Friday, local media and officials said.

BERLIN -- German police evacuated a school in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, north Germany, on Friday, German media Focus reported by quoting local police.
