Ukraine seeks to increase agricultural trade, cooperation with U.S.

Xinhua, October 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ukraine is seeking ways to bolster its economic and trade cooperation with the United States in the agricultural sector, the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday.

"We are interested in simplifying access of some Ukrainian agricultural goods to the U.S. market, expanding the range of Ukrainian agricultural exports and further deepening the bilateral cooperation between our countries," Olga Trofimtseva, Ukraine's deputy agriculture minister, said in a statement.

Particularly, Ukraine is willing to boost its collaboration with the U.S. in the area of quality control of agricultural products and food safety, Trofimtseva said.

Ukraine's official statistics showed, the agricultural trade turnover between Ukraine and the United States increased by 6.3 percent year on year to 127.5 million U.S. dollars in January-July of 2016.

Out of the total trade volume, Ukraine's exports stood at about 20.8 million dollars, down 22.7 percent on a yearly basis. Endit
