Albania's central bank keeps key rates unchanged, positive outlook for economy

Xinhua, October 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The supervisory council of Albania's central bank decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 1.25 percent, Bank of Albania governor Gent Sejko declared Wednesday.

According to the governor, the Albanian economy continued to grow during the second and third quarters, at rates comparable to the first quarter when growth was driven by the expanded domestic demand from the private sector.

Sejko said the central bank expects Albania's economic activity to progressively improve over the next two years.

Furthermore, Sejko stated the council assessed that the monetary stimulus would not diminish during 2016, deeming that the achievement of its inflation target would require adopting an accommodative monetary policy stance over this period. Endit
