Defense chiefs of Five Power Defense Arrangements members meet in Singapore

Xinhua, October 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Defense chiefs of Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom are meeting here from Tuesday to Thursday to discuss strengthening cooperation under the Five Power Defense Arrangements (FPDA) scheme.

The annual conference serves as a platform for dialogue and exchange of views among the five countries, who signed the cooperative agreement in 1971.

The defense chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to FPDA, and emphasized the important role that FPDA plays in enhancing regional cooperation and security, the Singaporean Ministry of Defense said in a statement Wednesday.

They also discussed and issued FPDA Exercise Concept Directive, which guides the development of future exercises and activities to strengthen interoperability and military cooperation. Endit
