Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe Tuesday arrived in the Indian capital on a three-day official visit.
During his stay, Wickremesinghe will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday and on the agenda of their talks are issues of mutual interest, sources said.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister will also call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, while India External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will call on him.
Wickremesinghe's visit assumes significance as India had last week pulled out of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit, scheduled to be held in Islamabad in November.
New Delhi opted out of the Summit blaming Pakistan for creating the right environment for the summit in the wake of a terror attack on an army camp in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Sept.18.
Following India's pullout, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka also followed suit, thus isolating Pakistan in the region.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister will wrap up his tour after attending the opening plenary of the India Economic Summit Thursday, along with Indian Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Endit
