Spain's unemployment rises by 0.62 pct in September

The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain rose by 22,801 from August to September, according to data published on Tuesday by the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

It meant a 0.62 percent increase since August, which leaves the total number of unemployed people in the country at 3,720,297 people.

Regarding sectors, unemployment rose by 39,268 people (1.60 percent more than that in August) in the services sector due to the end of the tourist peak season when the hotel industry sector takes on more workers to face an increasing demand.

In the industry sector, unemployment fell by 0.96 percent in September. It went down by 2.57 percent in the construction sector since August and by 7 percent in the agriculture sector.

Meanwhile, the ministry also said that unemployment fell by 373,745 people over the last 12 months, registering a fall of 9.13 percent. Endit
