Xinhua, October 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Monday directed provincial ministers to write and submit quarterly reports on the performance of government operations and projects.

Lungu said period reports would help him and his government to address the challenges facing operations at provincial level in executing government programs, according to a statement released after a cabinet meeting at State House.

"I want periodical reports say quarterly from you provincial ministers because this will assist us to know what challenges you are facing and how we can address them," he said.

The Zambian leader challenged his ministers to interpret government policies and ensure that programs and projects were executed to benefit citizens.

He urged them to come up with new ideas that will help the government deliver services to the people in the next five years.

Lungu was declared winner of the August 11 general elections and has said his new government wants to deliver development to the people. Endit
