1st LD: Taliban launches attacks on N. Afghanistan's Kunduz city

Taliban militants launched attacks on northern Kunduz city early on Monday and fierce fighting has been continuing, a local official said.

"Groups of Taliban militants launched major offensive on Kunduz city at 03:15 a.m. local time today to overrun the city but the government forces have blocked their advance," Mahsoudullah Akbari told Xinhua.

Fierce fighting has been continuing, the official said without giving more details. Enditem
