Indian PM defers meet to review Pakistan's status as favored trade partner

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday postponed till next week a meeting to discuss downgrading Pakistan's status as a trade partner, hours after the Indian Army claimed to have carried out "surgical strikes" across Line of Control.

Highly placed sources said the meeting to review the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status given to Pakistan will be held next week.

"Modi had decided to have a relook at MFN status in the wake of the terror attack on an Army base in Uri, but it has been rescheduled," sources said.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Army claimed to have carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Endit
