More guns found from Houston gunman killed by police

Xinhua, September 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Houston Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that they have found more guns from the gunman who was killed by police on Monday morning in the southwestern part of the city.

They found three guns inside Nathan DeSai's condo, in addition to the

45 pistol and Tommy gun found on him and inside his car at the scene, police said, adding that they also found more ammo inside his condo, along with body armor and gas masks.

On Tuesday, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences formally named 46-year-old DeSai as the shooter who injured nine people on Monday.

A preliminary autopsy shows on Wednesday that DeSai, a former lawyer, was shot six times by long rifles during a shootout with police.

Police said they still do not know the gunman's motive of shooting moving cars randomly in a Houston strip center but they are trying hard to find what role DeSai's Nazi paraphernalia may have played.

On Wednesday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who was visiting Cuba during the shooting, said the incident should be a wake-up call that the largest city in the Lone Star state needs more officers and more resources.

"We were very fortunate this time around, but I don't think we need to wait until somebody is dead before the urgency kicks in. I am saying we need it now," he said. Endi
